JIM JACOBI has been showing art throughout the United States for over 30 years. He is a colorist in an austere world. With two degrees in painting, he offers many varieties in style with emphasis on color, line and stroke. The media varies as well as subject matter- ranging from Oil/Watercolor to mixed media and collage. Subject matter ranges from whimsical, expressionist or surreal to abstract. He has recorded and released twenty-three CD’s and records since 1977. His style is considered “outsider punk music”. He has been mentioned in the 2009 book release “A Cultural History of Punk 1974-1982” by Nicholas Rombes. Some reviews of his December 2010 release CRESCENDO say “Jim Jacobi is a true to the bone musician-like the late Buck Naked is doing his best to make Nebraska proud.” Ginger Coyote Punk Globe and “Hard to believe this underground icon has been at it this long” Babysue magazine. His 30 year anniversary CD “It got too deep” has liner notes by Jello Biafra. His painting career parallels his music career, echoing the outsider/punk style, which sometimes has themes of isolation and alienation.

Jim has a philosophy about painting. He says that the world outside the canvas is our reality and what is created on canvas or paper is a new reality which we create. It is our way of giving creativity back to the universe from which it came–which any of us can be lucky enough to experience.

Jim was born in NYC and has lived in Germany, Dallas, Seattle, Phoenix and Nebraska. Jim went to college at University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated with a BFA/MFA in Fine Art.
